Just a quick update for posterity on the kid front:
Baby kurt’s a year and a half. So far, no verbal explosions – but plenty of diarrhea today. He does have a sort of word for “Beck” – sounds a bit like “beaaiing”. He’ll occasionally say ma, and daaady. He definitely knows how to say and identify a “plane”. His favorite pastime is heading his cousin Bridie in the head. He does this with whatever happens to be handy and isn’t too heavy for him to pick up.
Lucy’s into rocking her baby dolls and pretty into mommy. It’s easy to forget that she’s only 2 1/2 because she mixes right in with Beck and his friends and Meaghan. Last night, while I was rocking Kurt to sleep she was in the room changing into her pajamas. She finished pulling on her nightgown and tiptoed to the door – “I’m being very quiet daddy. I’m going to lock you in here, but don’t be afraid. I’m verrry quiet”. She was out the door and all I could see was her little hand pulling it shut when she paused, let go of the door, and gave a vigorous thumbs-up. It completely cracked me up.
Beck went tubing behind the boat at the lake last weekend all by himself – even jumped out of the tube in full speed. I was traveling for work, so missed it, but there’s a quick video of it in the vid section of the blog. After being a bit nervous to get going (“It’s my first time, so go slow Poppy”), he apparently loved it – frequently giving Poppy the international tubers hand gesture for “speed up!”.
